The current flag of the Bahamas was
officially adopted July 10, 1972. The flag consists of
three equal horizontal stripes with a black triangle
originating at the hoist side of the flag. The color black
represents the unity of the people, and the triangle is a
symbol of the determination of the Bahamian people to
develop the natural resources of the land and sea. The blue
and yellow colors are a representation of the golden beaches
of the Bahamas, surrounded by the ocean.
