The current flag of Canada, known as the ‘Maple Leaf Flag,’
was officially adopted in 1964. The design begins with a red, white, red,
vertical tri-band and features a red stylized 11 point maple leaf in the center
of the flag. Legend dates the Maple leaf as a symbol of Canada since the mid to
late 19th century. The colors of red and white represent the
national colors, established by King George V, in 1921.
