The current flag of Comoros was created and adopted between 2001
and 2003. This design incorporates some elements of the
previous flag. A green triangle originating on the hoist side,
featuring a white crescent facing the fly end towards four,
white five-pointed stars, was derived from the former flag.
Starting from the triangle are four horizontal stripes, each a
different color, representing each island of the Nation. The
yellow stripe stands for
Mohéli,
white for
Mayotte,
red
Anjouan
and blue
Grand
Comore. The four stars also represent the four
islands and the crescent is a symbol of Islam. |
