The current flag of Kenya
was officially adopted in December of 1963. This flag features
three equal horizontal bands in a black-red-green pattern, with
white fimbriation on each side of the center stripe. A
traditional Masai shield and two spears are centered on the
design. The color black represents the people of Kenya, and red
symbolizes blood shed in the struggle for independence. Green
stands for the agriculture and natural resources of Kenya, and
white represents peace and unity. The shield is a symbol of
defense on behalf of freedom. |
