IT IS CUSTOMARY TO FLY YOUR FLAG FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET.
However the flag may be displayed 24 hours if properly illuminated during hours of darkness.

The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to half-staff position. When lowering the flag, it should be first raised to the peak position and then lowered completely.

On Memorial day, the flag should be displayed at half-staff till noon only, then raised to the peak. By order of the President, the flag should be displayed at half staff in accordance with the directive. The Governor of any State, territory or possession may order the flags to half-mast in the event of a death of a present or former official.
