| This design was adopted in May
2003 and is patterned after the First National confederate (Stars
and Bars). The 13 stars are for the original 13 states in which
Georgia was the fifth state to join the union. The state seal is
shown on the blue field.
The seal has three pillars which represent the
three branches of government, Executive, Judicial and
Legislative. Words from the state motto, Wisdom, Justice and
Moderation are wrapped around the pillars. There is a soldier
with drawn sword, symbolizing defense of the constitution. The
motto "In God We Trust" appears under the pillars. |
